Court and
Wedge Tombs

Court tombs (c. 4000 — 3500 BCE) contain a long stone cairn, with the semi-circular arms of a “court” leading out from the wider end. The entrance led to a chamber containing the burial(s).
Wedge Tombs (2500 to 2000 BCE) have an antechamber separated from the burial chamber, which becomes lower and narrower toward the closed end.
