5The passage into Cairn T previously was open in summer months with guides in attendance. In earlier days, and during the winter months, visitors would borrow a key from a tea house nearby to access the tomb. The monument has not been open to the public since October of 2018, when a crack was discovered in a lintel stone supporting the roof. It is currently (2025) unclear when repairs will be made allowing the tomb to be reopened, as the National Monuments Service will first develop a Conservation Management Plan to guide the work and ensure the long-term protection of the site. The interior nodes of our VR tour of Cairn T were photographed in 2010. More information here.
