The ancient ancestors of the Irish made their marks on the land with great stone and earthen structures. Their descendants developed stories to explain them.
The sites are organized here into Portal Tombs, Passage Tombs, Court and Wedge Tombs, Standing Stones, Stone Circles, Earthworks, Stone Forts, and Early Christian.
This is an ongoing project. There are 87 sites online, with work remaining to be done on an additional 55. The completed sites are noted in red on the map.
